Readily Diagnostics, a participant in UIC Accelerator, received the SKAPA Award for their pioneering, instrument-free diagnostic test for rapid detection of viruses and bacteria. Mindplex AI, a UIC Startup participant, earned the SKAPA Talent Award for Young Innovators for their AI-powered app that helps users create and track personalized study materials.

Liza Löf, CEO of Readily, expressed her excitement: “Receiving the SKAPA Award is incredibly honorable and a huge milestone for us at Readily. It will help us get our message out there—that we’re developing instrument-free diagnostic tools and products.”

Ahmed Aal Hasoon, CEO of Mindplex AI, also shared his pride: “It feels amazing to receive the SKAPA Award, as it recognizes the work we’ve done and all the time we’ve invested in developing this software.”

The awards were presented on September 10 at Uppsala Castle by County Governor Stefan Attefall. Both companies will go on to represent Uppsala County in the national SKAPA competition in Stockholm on November 14.

The SKAPA Award is Sweden’s largest innovation prize and has been awarded annually for over 30 years. It is presented at both the regional and national levels to recognize and support inventive individuals, providing them with financial support to further develop their innovations.

The jury for the 2024 Uppsala County SKAPA Award included Anette Widén (Chair, Almi Uppsala), Kristina Jansson (County Administrative Board), Unn Harsem (Region Uppsala), Kjell Magnusson (Uppsala Association of Ideas and Inventors), and Erik Axelsson (Almi Uppsala).
