From Clinical Research to Innovation<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The story of Cellda began with Erik Wilander, a professor in clinical pathology with decades of experience in cancer diagnostics. After observing the limitations of conventional prostate diagnostics methods, he began considering how new technologies could contribute to safer and faster diagnostics. Together with S\u00f6ren Nygren, an entrepreneur with over 30 years of experience in the life sciences industry, they founded MM18 Medical, which later rebranded as Cellda. The mission was, and remains, clear: to enhance diagnostics through digital image analysis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2013 An essential part of Cellda’s development was creating software capable of digitally analyzing prostate tissue, identifying cancer, and providing objective diagnoses, explains Erik Wilander.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project received early support from Uppsala University Innovation and other stakeholders, contributing expertise and resources to realize the company\u2019s vision and establish its technological foundation. Early collaborations with other companies to access technical specialists, as well as interest and support from investors, have turned the project into a product.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cellda\u2019s Success with Support from UIC<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In 2022, Cellda joined UIC\u2019s accelerator program<\/a>, gaining access to validation funds, business coaches, and a network of other companies and investors. The business coach became a crucial part of the company\u2019s success, serving as both a sounding board and a strategic advisor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Susanne Bredenberg, CEO, shares how UIC\u2019s support extended beyond funding to building a sustainable business strategy. UIC helped the company navigate complex regulatory requirements, strengthen its communication strategy, and connect with new partners through its extensive network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2013 UIC provided us with the tools to turn our vision into a concrete business model. Their support has been invaluable, especially in connecting us with the right people and resources, says Susanne.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Future of Cellda and AI in Diagnostics<\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Cellda is now at the forefront of a medical revolution where AI and digital solutions are becoming increasingly vital in diagnostics. The company\u2019s software has the potential to not only enhance the quality of diagnostics but also reduce the workload for pathologists and save healthcare costs. The next step for Cellda is to conduct a clinical performance study, a critical milestone for bringing their first product, Cellda\u00ae Prostate, to market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the same time, Cellda serves as an example of the importance of a strong support system for startups. UIC\u2019s involvement demonstrates how a broad combination of financial support, guidance, and networking can turn an innovative idea into a successful business. Cellda is well-positioned to set new standards in medical diagnostics, ensuring patients receive accurate diagnoses and, most importantly, timely treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
