Uppsala’s unique strengths, including leading universities, advanced industries, and a vibrant cultural scene, position it as a hub for knowledge-intensive enterprises. UIC, alongside partners, will play a pivotal role in nurturing early-stage innovative companies in the region.

Andreas Larsson, CEO of STUNS and UIC Chairman, emphasizes that this investment is a commitment to entrepreneurs, enhancing Uppsala’s innovation ecosystem for both early and late-stage ventures.

Recognizing the need for structured networks, UIC will intensify networking between successful alumni companies and startups, fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange. The agreement also facilitates physical co-location for innovative startups, creating an environment conducive to growth and collaboration. UIC will actively showcase Uppsala’s innovation prowess on national and international platforms.

Niclas Stjernberg, UIC CEO, underscores the initiative’s significance, making it easier for innovative companies to establish and scale operations in Uppsala, promoting exchanges between successful alumni, startups, and advisors.

Anticipating Uppsala’s appeal as an innovation hub, attracting talent, contacts, and capital, the initiative is expected to facilitate entrepreneurs across industries in realizing their innovations, addressing crucial societal needs.

UIC-supported companies receive annual recognition on prestigious lists, such as NyTeknik’s 33-list, featuring Sweden’s most innovative startups. Notable UIC-affiliated companies include Airforestry, Nitrocapt, and Altris.

Annika Remaeus, Head of Business Development at Uppsala Municipality, highlights the shared goal of fostering innovation and supporting globally competitive companies for Uppsala’s long-term growth.

Erik Pelling, Chairman of the Municipal Board, emphasizes that the project agreement with UIC strengthens Uppsala’s technology cluster and innovation support, creating more jobs and enhancing Uppsala’s attractiveness for investments.
