Uppsala Innovation Centre (UIC) celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, having evaluated 4,060 business ideas to date. Out of these, 1,392 innovative startups and growth companies have received support, collectively attracting over 9 billion SEK in funding.
Over the past 25 years, UIC has provided business development support to entrepreneurs with international potential, creating thousands of new jobs. UIC’s successful business model has led to collaborations both locally and internationally. UIC co-founded EURO Inc Net to facilitate companies establishing themselves in Europe.
“UIC has always strived to be an independent player with a focus on entrepreneurs. Our independence and the strong performance of the companies have built significant trust capital for UIC,” says Niclas Stjernberg, CEO of UIC.
In 2023, UIC evaluated 282 business ideas, of which 75 were accepted into various business development programs. There has been a particular focus on research-intensive “Deeptech” companies. Over the past 10 years, UIC has supported 458 companies, which in 2023 employed 2,196 people and had a turnover of 4.4 billion SEK.
“It is amazing to see the significant impact of the companies we have supported, just in 2023 alone. We have found a successful model, characterized by strong collaborations and talent attraction,” concludes Niclas Stjernberg.
