When technology meets social impact, innovation with real meaning emerges. For Enaiblers, everything began with an assignment from one of the world’s largest pharmaceutical companies and evolved into a vision of increasing access to health data and streamlining the way it is collected. With support from UIC Accelerate, the company has shifted from technology development to business development, finding its path in a complex global market.
Enaiblers’ success has become clear, especially when the company was named to the prestigious 33-list, a recognition given to Sweden’s most promising startups with high innovation potential and scalable business models for both the Swedish and international markets.

From assignment to innovation
The journey began in 2018, when founders Peter Dahlberg and Peter Ward, then working as product development consultants, received an assignment from Johnson & Johnson. The company was seeking a new way to collect data on the spread of parasitic diseases in low- and middle-income countries.
– We realized the problem wasn’t taking the samples, it was reading them. The process took time, required manual labor, and the results varied depending on who was looking through the microscope, says Peter Dahlberg.
The solution became an automated microscope with built-in AI, capable of analyzing samples without being connected to the internet, a necessity in areas with limited infrastructure.
After five years of development, Johnson & Johnson shut down the division that ran the project, giving Peter and Peter the opportunity to spin out the technology and start Enaiblers. Their goal is to make fast and reliable image-based diagnostics accessible worldwide, especially where expertise and resources are scarce.
“We were used to building solutions for others. Now we had to figure out how we could create business value from our technology, and that required a different mindset“
Turning innovation into business value
Shifting from consulting to running their own life science product company was a major transition. Enaiblers now needed not only to develop the technology but also to understand the market, secure funding, and build a sustainable business model. This is where UIC became an essential partner in creating commercial value.
– We were used to building solutions for others. Now we had to figure out how we could create business value from our technology, and that required a different mindset, says Peter.
After extensive studies in Peru, Uganda, Tanzania, and Ethiopia, the results showed that the solution not only worked, it surpassed manual analysis in both accuracy and efficiency. The next step is to validate the technology on a larger scale and prepare for implementation in additional countries.
UIC Accelerate – an independent partner for growth
Peter describes the collaboration with UIC Accelerate as a crucial factor in the company’s development.
– The best thing about UIC is that they are completely independent. They don’t own any part of us, they have no agenda, they’re simply there to help us succeed. That makes it easy to discuss everything, even the hard stuff.
Through UIC Accelerate, Enaiblers has gained access to coaches, expert support, and valuable verification funding that has enabled activities that otherwise wouldn’t have happened. UIC’s network has also proven invaluable. For example, through this network Enaiblers connected with another UIC company, Readily Diagnostics, which today uses Enaiblers’ technology to streamline its image analysis.
– That’s proof of how strong the network is. UIC connects companies that otherwise would never have found each other, and that creates real value, Peter says.
Why companies need an accelerator
Starting a company is a complex process, and according to Peter, it’s easy to think you can manage everything yourself—until you realize how much is involved.
– As an entrepreneur, you mainly want to focus on the product, but there’s so much more legal matters, finances, structure. UIC helps prioritize, guide, and bring order to the chaos.
Through UIC Accelerate, Enaiblers has been able to grow with support, structure, and experience, while staying focused on what truly matters: making a difference in global health.
