Groundbreaking AI for business documentation, a marketplace for equestrians, accessible geodata, and home blood test kits are among the business ideas accepted into UIC’s business development program this spring. These companies operate in different industries but share a common goal of improving the world with their innovative business ideas.
Every year, UIC conducts the business development programs UIC Startup and UIC Build to support individuals with new business ideas in their entrepreneurial journey. Entrepreneurs in the early stages receive support to ensure their business idea has the potential to succeed, identify their customers, and test their idea with customers. They also receive assistance in building a more efficient organization, learning to pitch to investors, and expanding their network.
— Despite significant variation in industries and solutions among the selected companies, they share a common denominator; motivated and strong founding teams that create solutions with great potential to change the industries they operate within. With guidance from us and our partners, we can future-proof the companies and enable them to overcome the biggest challenges that many early startups face. We look forward to providing the companies with the tools they need to take their scalable and sustainable innovations to the next level, says Jessica Mansourati, Business Developer at UIC.

Over three months, entrepreneurs learn the essentials of starting and running a business, completely cost-free. UIC’s program is designed to support and accelerate the growth of promising startups across various industries. In these programs, entrepreneurs gain access to business development, individual coaching, financing opportunities, and a valuable network. The program concludes with UIC Demo Day on June 12th, a kind of “Open House” where companies exhibit and showcase their products and services to the public.
